Italians know how to party !

I just finished the model air show at the contest site and am packing to go home (hopfully) We had a great night at the banquit last night; certainly a change from the WC in Munci.

The Italians know how to party and be excellent hosts. I (we) appreciate everything they did to help when we needed information.

The final information is: http://www.wchf3c2011.it/results/final.pdf

We had all of out pilots in the top half of the worlds best; two of them made it to the top (15) fly off dance and Curtis Youngblood earned an impressive fifth place at his 13th world championship event.

Have a look at full coverage of the event in Rotorworld magazine; I will be discussing some things I have not elaborated on in this blog.

Day one of the fly off’s

If you have not found the Friday’s scores; see:

http://www.wchf3c2011.it/results/flyoff2.pdf

What you wont see is the determination of the US team to try even harder on Saturday!

As team manager I get to see more than flights and scores; I see the passion in these three gifted pilots that most really cannot appreciate unless they are at the hot, dusty, hot, smelly, hot…practice fields like I have.

We have one more day to push a few places up and the team is determined to do just that. Whatever the final numbers, I am honored to have been able to serve these pilot.

For those who have not had the opportunity to see Ito fly; impressive is not enough of a word. If you have a look at the scores, he is at a different level then the rest of the pack. For you 3D’ers, he is well versed at that too.

Day off…yea sure!

We headed out to the practice field and used up all of the light available.

Every time I see these guys work at this it impresses me even more.

Wish us luck!

P flights done!

I just received the formal results and the US will have two of out three pilots participating in the fly-off’s.

Curtis is carrying over a very strong fourth place to the finals and has been working all day on “F” schedule and looking formidable.

Wayne made the finals in 12th place and is also working very hard at “F” schedule as well.

Tomarrow we will get up early and pound the air some more; we are still in the running for a number of opportunities and appreciate the support.

Tuesday, round three of P

The team was up early today and, after a late evening of practice they were ready to rock. Wayne, Nick and Curtis flew before lunch and had lot of heat and almost no wind at all.

I watched all flights from the TM’s position and felt all of the guy’s improved but unfortunately the judges only agreed with me for two of the three members. We really won’t know what out positions are untill tomorrow since we use two flight lines and fly 50% of the round each day for each pilot.

Wednesday is a big one for us. Curtis has been in the “zone” and really putting numbers up but Ito can throw a wrench in it all if he has a great day. Nick is improving each day and Wayne is consistent (even though his scores did not show it today).

It’s amazing of the dedication to hard work each of the team members have. They put in 15 hour days flying and working on stuff.

On a lighter note, our youngest pilot, Nick Maxwell was happy to find this hotel actually provided a water fountain in his bathroom!
